Notes and definitions
- The inch, foot, yard and mile are the international units, defined exactly in meters (1 in = 0.0254 m). US survey units are not included.
- The nautical mile is the international nautical mile, exactly 1,852 m.
- Negative values are accepted because length can represent a signed displacement.
